Review: Bluboo Uwatch

The Bluboo smartwatch is good looking, and it has all the features one could reasonably expect its smartwatch to have for this price. It is available in black, silver, and golden colors, so everyone can find one that best reflects their personality.

The square watch face of the Bluboo U Watch smartwatch has a large, 1.44-inch rectangular dial and it has an aluminum case, making it both light and durable at the same time. The watch has a soft fluoroelastomer band which will ensure the comfort of the users. The material of the band is soft, durable, and bends easy, so wearing the device all day long will definitely be a pleasure.  The 128 x 128 pixels resolution of the display will deliver good quality images, so users will have a good visual experience with the Bluboo watch. The capacitive button placed under the screen of the watch will make toggle between menus and completing tasks on the smartwatch an easy thing to do.

The Bluboo U Watch smartwatch is powered by a built-in MTK 2501 chip, includes 24MB of RAM and 32MB internal storage. It has IP65 water resistance rating, so users won’t have to take the watch off every time they come in contact with water, like washing their hands, face, or more. The smartwatch is equipped with a pedometer, a sedentary reminder, and a sleep monitor, so it won’t only count your steps when exercising, it will also watch the quality of your sleep.

Of course, monitoring your sleep and countings your steps is not everything the Bluboo U smartwatch can do. It also allows users to sync it to their smartphones, access their phonebook, call logs, so they won’t miss out on any important calls. Information from Facebook, Twitter, , WhattsApp, Wechat, SMS and other apps will be pushed to your smart watch. The smartwatch can also serve as a remote control with which you can access the camera and the music playlist of your smartphone. The 350mAh battery of the watch is able to ensure up to 72 hours of battery life, so users will not have to bother charging it every day. The smartwatch also comes with redesigned and reinvented U Watch apps, which are compatible with iOS and Android smartphones.

The Bluboo U Watch really has a lot to offer, and it might be the perfect entry-level smartwatch on the market at this point. It is available in three colors, so everyone can find the one that is the best for them.

Unboxing experience:
The watch itself comes in a rather plain cardboard box that doesn’t tell you much about the product and I’m not that impressed by it to be honest. Inside of the box is the watch itself inside of a small plastic bag, along with a MicroUSB-cable and a screen protector. The screen protector is a nice addition as these smartwatches tend to be prone to scratches, and it can be very hard to find screen protectors for these.

Build Quality:
The watch itself is made out of dark colored aluminum and along with that it comes with a strap made out of PU-leather. The front of the watch is covered by a display and the back of the watch is made out of plastic, and there’s a button along the edge of the watch. I really like the build quality of this watch and it gives off a good impression compared to other offerings in this price range.

Software Experience:
The software that runs on this watch is a custom operating system that’s rather basic. There’s plenty of apps on the watch itself such as a calling app (that use the built-in microphone and speaker), music control, remote camera and what not. The major disadvantage with the software on the watch is the fact that you cannot really install any third party application as there’s a lack of support for that, but that’s acceptable as this watch is designed mostly for calls and retrieving notifications off your phone.

Audio Quality:
When it comes to the audio quality, I’m not really impressed as the sound is very thin. However, the audio quality is decent enough for basic phone calls, but if you want to listen to music you may want to get another smartwatch.

So after using this watch now for about a week, I must say that I really like this watch and that’s mainly due to the nice build quality it offers for the price. The watch itself isn’t that much different from other affordable brands when it comes to the features, but the fact that it’s entirely made out of aluminum and feels sturdy makes that less of an issue. The battery life is comparable to other brands, and the speaker quality may not be the best, but this smartwatch is definitely worth to consider if you want an affordable smartwatch.
